Gautam Gambhir was born on 14 October 1981 in New Delhi, Gautam's father's name is Deepak Gambhir, who had a textile business, his mother's name is Seema Gambhir who was a housewife. Ekta Gambhir Gautam Gambhir was adopted by his grandparents when he was 18 days old and took Gambhir with him all his life from Modern School New Delhi. When he was only 10 years old, his attention started getting attracted to cricket, after that he started living with his maternal uncle Pawan Gulati. Where he used to practice cricket for days with his maternal uncle and he considers his maternal uncle as his mentor because he supported Gambhir in every right and wrong decision. In 2008, he was honored with India's highest sports award Arjuna Award by the President of India. He became the World No.1 batsman in the ICC Test rankings in 2009. The same year he also received the ICC Test Player of the Year award in 2009. In 2010, Gambhir also became the captain of the international Indian cricket team, in which he also received the Man of the Series award in the series played against New Zealand. From 2010 to 2011, Gambhir captained the international Indian cricket team and played 6 matches under his captaincy in which he won India in 6 matches of 6. Thanks to his brilliant performance in all this, Gautam Gambhir got a chance to play in the ICC World Cup 2011.
